These top buttons are tabs you can interact with. You can dock when you are on the same tile as a planet or a station. You can (almost) always return to this screen by clicking the Navigation button.
This is a map that shows what wormholes are nearby. This should help you find wormholes faster and help with navigation.
Here you can see the info on what resources and how much is available on the current tile.
Your speed will vary. Hover on the number to find out what is affecting your speed.

Press the "?" button to collapse the hints(purple text). Press it again any time you need to see these again.
Dotted underline means extra information. Hover with a cursor/tap on it to see it. Solid underline means a link
You are always in the middle of the map. Just like stars, you can't always see your ship, but you know it is always there.

Production (per tick)
Consumption (per tick)
How this all works:
The growth and migration values shown are what happened last tick.
Industries grow when they consume inputs.
They do so every 3 hours ("tick").
Growth: with sufficient inputs, population grows.
Migration: When inputs are very abundant, population can grow very fast.
Very scarce inputs cause population to decrease, both through growth and migration.
There are 4 kinds of industries:
*Primary - Creates output items if any inputs are met. Workers increase or decrease depending on availability of inputs.
*Secondary - Creates output items if all inputs are met. Workers don't increase when even one input is missing.
*Tertiary - Produces credits based on the value of consumed items. Worker amount is limited to all non-tertiary industries summed up.
*Special - Doesn't produce items or credits.
How to level up?
Fight, trade, use factories, do anything really - get xp.
Every 1000 xp gives a level and 1 skillpoint.
Skillpoints can be used to train skills.
What do skills do?
Most skills allow you to equip higher tech items of some kind. For example, gunnery unlocks better weapons.
Valuable or high-level skills require spending items to train them, but you should look around - maybe you can train it cheaper elsewhere.
Tech 0 items and ships are always usable regardless of skills.
Using items that are too high-tech compared to your skills gives a 50% penalty per missing skill level.
For example, when you have defense 1 and try to use a tech 3 armor, it will only give 25% of its stats.
